HSE standards

PDO HSE Management System Manual and other relevant procedures and standards will be available with HSE Advisor and will be available to all employees for reference. In addition, work procedures addressing the management of hazards will also made available to the employees.

Hazard and Effects Management Process (HEMP):

To manage HSE risks associated with earthmoving and road works under the contract, Hazards and Effects Management Process (HEMP) provides a structured approach in managing the hazards and potential effects of the company’s activities. Effective application of HEMP involves four steps: Identify, Assess, Control and Recovery.

The identification of hazard shall be executed in the initial stage of the contract. During the identification of risk, the process of reducing the risk effect and its elimination shall be determined. At the initial stage of the work, an assessment shall be made to identify the hazards and Risk to ensure the safety of the workers involved, including the impact on environment. For every hazard, there are potential problems where corrective measures should be taken to ensure that no accidents or incidents occur.

The control measures of hazards at workplace are:

  • To avoid risk by elimination of hazards if possible.
  • Ensure that the entire workforce understand what is necessary to work safe and healthy.
  • Make sure that safety procedures are accepted by everybody and applied to the activities.
  • Use technology to improve work condition
  • Provide and make sure usage of correct PPE.

To assist with a recovery, all personnel are fully briefed and drilled as per the response measures planned, including evacuation and restoration procedures. Al Junaibi has identified the following potential groups of hazards:

  • Chemical handling

All workers must be made aware of hazards and safe-working procedures derived and adhered to. Hazard reports are used to alert supervisors of any hazardous conditions found by workers on the work site. Hazard reports can be given verbally or in writing.
